FM Gedion holds talks with senior officials from UN and EU

Aaddis Ababa, February 17, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held talks with Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, at his office today.

The Minister briefed her on current national and regional issues. He mentioned that the national dislogue process is progressing well and that the public is closely following and supporting it.

On regional issues, FM Gedion said Ethiopia remains committed to supporting efforts to bring lasting peace to Sudan.

The Minister also noted the significant improvement in relations between Ethiopia and Somalia, adding that regional challenges can only be resolved through dialogue.

Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo reiterated the United Nations’ continued support for Ethiopia’s efforts to promote both national and regional peace.

The Minister also met with Annette Weber, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa later today. Discussions covered regional issues of mutual interest.
