129th anniversary of Adwa Victory celebrations underway across Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, March 2, 2025 (FMC) — Celebrations marking the 129th anniversary of the Adwa Victory are underway across Ethiopia, with various events taking place in all regional states and city administrations.
This year’s commemoration is being observed under the theme “Adwa: African Victory” by government institutions, regional and city administrations, as well as Ethiopian diplomatic missions worldwide.
In Addis Ababa, the celebrations are centered at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, featuring a series of events to honor this historic occasion.
The official ceremony began with FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie laying a wreath at the statue of Emperor Menelik II in tribute to the victory.
The event is being attended by senior federal and regional officials, representatives from the African Union, members of the Ancient Ethiopian Heroes and Patriots Association, and other distinguished guests.
The program also includes a flag-raising ceremony symbolizing the unity between veterans and the younger generation, along with a special presentation highlighting the enduring significance of the Adwa Victory
