EEU signs $17.3M deal for power distribution upgrade in three cities towns
Addis Ababa, March 26, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) has signed a $17.3 million contract with Wilkins Engineering Ltd. to rehabilitate power distribution networks in Debre Birhan, Bishoftu, and Sululta.
The project is part of EEU’s broader initiative to modernize power distribution in 10 towns. It includes the rehabilitation of 386 kilometers of medium-voltage (MV) lines, the upgrade of 433 transformers, and the installation of 87 new connections.
EEU stated that the initiative will enhance service reliability, reduce power losses, and improve electricity access for thousands of residents and businesses.
