AUSSOM Ethiopian troops praised for effective operations in Somalia

Addis Ababa, April 13, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopian troops deployed in Somalia under the AUSSOM mission are conducting effective operations, according to Maj. Gen. Adamneh Mengistie, Head of the Peacekeeping Center at the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF).

Maj. Gen. Adamneh recently visited Sector 3 in Baidoa, where he observed the operations of the Ethiopian contingent. He commended the leadership and personnel of the sector for their unwavering dedication and strong performance in fulfilling their mission.

In a statement shared via ENDF’s social media, the Major General highlighted that the Ethiopian troops have worked closely with Somali national security forces to counter the Al-Shabaab terrorist group. Their collaboration has played a vital role in protecting the Somali people and ensuring regional stability.

He further praised the troops for not only thwarting Al-Shabaab’s activities but also for honoring and respecting the culture and traditions of the people of Somalia, noting that their conduct and commitment have brought pride to both Ethiopia and the ENDF.
