Deputy PM Temesgen commends reforms at EIC

Addis Ababa, April 17, 2025 (FMC) — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh visited the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) on Thursday, where he acknowledged the Commission’s ongoing efforts to improve the country’s investment environment.

Following the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister shared a statement on social media highlighting the Commission’s reform initiatives and growing impact.

“We had the opportunity to witness firsthand the important work the Ethiopian Investment Commission is doing to strengthen Ethiopia’s investment climate,” he noted, pointing to the institution’s adoption of international standards and digital tools to enhance customer service and efficiency.

He also remarked that the Commission’s efforts are contributing to Ethiopia’s emergence as a competitive investment destination.

According to Mr. Temesgen, broader macroeconomic reforms are yielding results, including a marked increase in foreign direct investment during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

Looking forward, the Deputy Prime Minister said the government has urged the EIC to intensify its focus on promoting targeted investment opportunities aligned with national economic priorities.

“When we create the right conditions for investment, we create jobs, spark innovation, and unlock the full potential of our economy,” he concluded.
