Ethiopia partakes on BRICS Sherpas/Sous Sherpas Meetim in Rio de Janeiro

Addis Ababa, April 24, 2025 (FMC) – An Ethiopian delegation led by Ambassador Menelik Alemu, Special Policy Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Ethiopia’s National BRICS Senior Officials Technical Committee, is participating in the 2nd BRICS Sherpas/Sous Sherpas meeting being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The meeting was opened by Ambassador Mauricio Carvalho Lyrio, Brazil’s Sherpa for BRICS and Secretary for Economic and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.

The Sherpas meeting will prepare the joint statement of foreign ministers that will be adopted at the 1st Meeting of Foreign Ministers due to be held on April 28-29, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.

The meeting will also take stock of the progress in the preparation of the Leaders Declarations on Artificial Intelligence and Climate Finance and other agenda items in the annual programme of work.
