Innovation Africa 2025 Ministerial Summit for Education, ICT Opens in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, April 28, 2025 (FMC) – The Innovation Africa 2025 Conference on Education, Technology, and Skills officially opened today at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa.

The event is organized by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT), and Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) in collaboration with African Brains.

The conference has drawn ministers and delegations from across Africa, alongside international education partners and private sector investors.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Temesgen Truneh, emphasized that education, technology, and skills development are critical for nurturing the next generation. He expressed confidence that the conference would generate meaningful and actionable discussions to drive progress in these areas.

Highlighting the Ethiopian government’s priorities, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed to ongoing efforts in school construction, infrastructure development, digital network expansion, and innovation and skills enhancement. He also called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders and partners to achieve transformative change across Africa.

Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, stressed the urgency of equipping the future generation with the necessary education, technology, and skills amid an increasingly complex global environment.

He noted that the outcomes of this three-day forum should serve as a foundation for Africa’s broader transformation.

The conference will feature discussions on key topics related to education, information and communication technology (ICT), and skills development.
