Addis Ababa-based diplomatic community extends Easter wishes to Ethiopian Christians

Addis Ababa, April 19, 2025 (FMC) – Embassies, diplomatic missions, and international organizations based in Addis Ababa have extended warm Easter wishes to Ethiopian Christians celebrating the holiday.

In a message shared on its social media page, the German Embassy conveyed heartfelt greetings, stating: “The German Embassy wishes a happy Easter and a pleasant holiday to those who are celebrating in Germany, Ethiopia, and across the world.”

The Embassies of Australia, Canada, Iran, the Netherlands, Switzerland,  and Pakistan also joined in sending their best wishes to Ethiopians observing Good Friday and Easter.

In a brief video message, the UK Embassy highlighted shared cultural ties, noting: *“This year, the UK and Ethiopia celebrate Easter/Fasika on the same day — a joyous coincidence highlighting our many cultural links.”*

The U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa likewise wished all Christians a joyful and blessed Easter, extending its warm regards to the Ethiopian people.

In addition, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), along with other UN agencies based in Addis Ababa, shared their holiday greetings. “UNESCO celebrates the rich cultural traditions of this season, recognizing how celebrations like Easter foster peace, unity, and understanding. Happy Easter and Happy Ethiopian Easter,” the organization stated.
