African Parks, Ethiopia vow cooperation on Sustainable natural resource management

Addis Ababa, January 22, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopian Ambassador in Juba, Nebil Mahdi, met with Ms. Dorette Smit, the Country Representative for African Parks in South Sudan, to discuss ongoing conservation initiatives.

During their meeting, Ambassador Nebil highlighted Ethiopia’s key focus areas and endeavors in natural resource conservation and sustainable management, emphasizing the role of community involvement and stakeholder engagement. They reviewed the recent partnership agreement established with the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority, the Gambella Regional State, African Parks, and local communities aimed at protecting Gambella Park and South Sudan’s Boma-Badingilo national parks.

Both parties committed to collaborating on conservation efforts, the responsible use of natural resources, and promoting tourism activities in the region.
