AIIB commits to supporting Ethiopia’s dev’t through sustainable infrastructure projects
Addis Ababa, April 25, 2025 (FMC) – On the margins of the 2025 IMF/WB Spring Meetings, the Ethiopian delegation led by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, met with the President Jin Liqun of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
On the occasion, Minister Shide expressed Ethiopia’s gratitude for President Liqun’s recent visit to Ethiopia and his commitment to support Ethiopia’s infrastructure development plans covering various sectors.
President Liqun, for his part, commended Ethiopia’s bold economic transformation program and reform achievements to date.
He further expressed AIIB’s commitment to support and contribute to Ethiopia’s development through impactful and sustainable infrastructure projects that would contribute to boosting productivity, creating jobs, unlocking economic opportunities, and fostering an improved business environment for private investment in the country.
The two sides pledged to strengthen the partnership between AIIB and Ethiopia by swiftly mobilizing the Bank’s support to finance transformational infrastructure projects linked to transportation and connectivity, among other areas.
