AIIB says ready to further explore investment opportunities in Ethiopia for future cooperation
Addis Ababa, January 22, 2025 (FMC) – During its continued visit to China, the Ethiopian delegation led by Mr. Ahmed Shide Mohamed, Minister of Finance of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, had a candid meeting with the top managers of the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB), led by the President of the AIIB Jin Liqun on 21 January 2025.
The discussion mainly focused on the new investment opportunities available in Ethiopia for potential investors and overseas financiers, including AIIB.
On the occasion, Mr. Ahmed Shide expounded on the economic liberalization and the infrastructure development projects being undertaken in Ethiopia to the AIIB managerial team.
The AIIB chief, for his part, recalled his recent visit to Ethiopia and expressed his deep excitement about the development projects underway in the country.
The President and his team expressed their willingness to further explore investment opportunities in Ethiopia for future cooperation, according to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing.
The Ethiopian Finance Minister has traveled to China on Monday for working visit to further bolster economic cooperation between the two countries. The Ethiopian delegation is expected to conclude its visit to China on January 25, 2025.
It is worth noting that the AIIB chief visited Ethiopia between late November and early December 2024 for the first time during his tenure.
