AK Party Deputy Chair Lauds Ethiopia’s Effort to Foster Dev’t, Peace and Stability in East Africa

Addis Ababa, January 30, 2025 (FMC) — AK Party (Justice and Development Party) Deputy Chairman Zafer Sırakaya has praised Ethiopia’s effort to strengthen development ties and foster peace and stability in the East Africa region.

Sırakaya is among the foreign dignitaries that are in Addis Ababa to attend the second congress of the ruling Prosperity Party (PP), which is the largest political parti in Africa.

AKP Deputy Chairman Zafer Sırakaya and Prosperity Party Vice President Adem Farah have held talks today.

The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a principled platform for strengthening cooperation across various sectors.

The agreement encompasses fostering joint political collaboration through high-level engagements and consultations, facilitating educational and capacity-building initiatives as well as creating a joint bilateral platform for women and youth.

Furthermore, the memorandum aims to promote mutually beneficial trade and economic partnerships in health, agriculture, culture, and tourism.

Sırakaya emphasized the enduring friendship between Ethiopia and Türkiye, highlighting Ethiopia as a key partner for Türkiye in Africa.

That was why President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan facilitated the forums for resolving the disagreements between Ethiopia and Somalia, he added.

Furthermore, the deputy chairman lauded Ethiopia’s efforts to enhance development connectivity and promote peace and stability in the East Africa region, assuring that Türkiye will continue to bolster its support for regional peace and stability.

On his part, Adem said Prosperity Party recognizes the unwavering friendship between Ethiopia and Turkey that has sustained for years.

He also expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s government and President Erdoğan’s efforts in resolving the dispute between Ethiopia and Somalia.

The Prosperity Party values the enduring and steadfast friendship between Ethiopia and Türkiye, the vice president underscored.

The collaboration between the Prosperity Party and the AK Party will continue to grow as both parties share a commitment to inclusive public administration and development, Adem added.

The vice president finally noted the positive impact of the macroeconomic reform on stabilizing the exchange rate and attracting foreign investors, including Turkish investors.
