Addis Ababa, April 11, 2025 (FMC) — A high-level military delegation from Nigeria’s Defence Resource Centre, led by Major General Sanusi Dahiru, Commander of the Nigerian Army Headquarters Garrison, has visited the Ethiopian Defense Command and Staff College and the Defense Peacekeeping Center.
According to the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) social media team, the delegation was received and briefed by Brigadier General Mulugeta Ambachew, Commander of the Defense Command and Staff College.
The visit aimed to observe Ethiopia’s efforts in promoting regional stability and strengthening security institutions, as well as to gain experience from the country’s work in developing a military leadership capacity-building center.
The delegation also visited the FDRE Defense Peacekeeping Center and was briefed on the center’s overall activities.
Brigadier General Mekonnen Asfaw, Head of the Operations Monitoring and Deployment Department of the center, stated that Ethiopia and Nigeria share longstanding diplomatic relations.
He noted that Ethiopia plays a key role in combating terrorism and extremism through peacekeeping missions, supported by training and strategy.
General Mekonnen added that the visit would create opportunities for exchanging military knowledge and experience, and for enhancing cooperation between the two countries’ defense institutions.
During their stay in Ethiopia this week, the Nigerian delegation also visited various government institutions and agencies, including Information Network Security Administration (INSA), national mines gallery, and Ethiopian federal police.
