Ethiopia, Canada discuss national and regional issues

Addis Ababa, April 8, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, received Canadian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ambassador Joshua Tabah, and Canadian Special Envoy to the African Union, Ben Marc Diendéré, at his office, the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry said today.

During their meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a range of national and regional issues.

FM Gedion noted that the longstanding and historical ties between Ethiopia and Canada offers ample opportunity to further strengthen the relationship.

He also briefed the Canadian ambassadors on the current progress of the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

For his part, Ambassador Joshua Tabah expressed Canada’s commitment to further strengthening its relationship with Ethiopia.

Ambassador Joshua noted that recent visits by high-level Canadian delegations to Ethiopia demonstrate Canada’s keenness to strengthen its bilateral ties with Ethiopia.

He also said the relationship between the two countries extends government-to-government collaboration and encompasses people-to-people ties.
