Addis Ababa, April 15, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia reaffirmed its commitment to regional peace and stability at the London Sudan Conference, with a high-level delegation led by Ambassador Redwan Hussien, Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service, and Ambassador Hadera Abera, State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Participating in the international gathering co-hosted by the UK, EU, France, Germany, and the African Union, Ethiopia emphasized the urgent need for a Sudanese-owned political solution and a permanent ceasefire to end the conflict in its neighboring country.
The Ethiopian delegation strongly advocated for a comprehensive and inclusive peace process, stressing that lasting stability can only be achieved through close consultation with all Sudanese stakeholders.
Ethiopia also called on the international community to strengthen support for Sudan’s neighbors—particularly countries like Ethiopia that continue to host large numbers of refugees—as part of a coordinated response to the humanitarian crisis.
Highlighting its longstanding principle of “African solutions to African problems,” Ethiopia urged that regional organizations play a leading role in facilitating Sudan’s political transition, with constructive support from international partners.
The conference brought together representatives from 14 countries and major global institutions, including the United Nations, to address humanitarian needs, the ceasefire, and political solutions to the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
