Addis Ababa, February 17, 2025 (FMC) — Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe held discussion with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-lweala in Addis Ababa today.
In a briefing he gave to the media following his discussion with WTO General Director, Kassahun said that we have recently established a WTO accession unit comprising highly qualified experts to support our accession negotiations.
He revealed that the Ministry is set to finalize WTO’s accession process by 2026.
The Minister extended gratitude to the Director General and her team for the commitment and unreserved technical support to Ethiopia’s accession process to WTO.
Ethiopia’s accession process to the WTO has been ongoing since 2003, as reported by ENA.
