Addis Ababa, April 17, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture has shared the country’s experiences on the implementation of an inclusive food system and nutrition roadmap at the ongoing Partnership for Green Growth, Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, on 17th April.
Themed “Global Partnership for Green Sustainability: Inclusion. Innovation. Responsible Actions”, the 4th biennial Summit is being held in the presence of global leaders, experts and influential stakeholders from businesses and civil society to share insights, showcase innovations and develop actionable strategies that support innovation and entrepreneurship, accelerate global climate finance and deliver country level climate transitions.
Ethiopian delegation, headed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, is also participating in the summit, where the premier highlighted his country’s initiatives and efforts on climate change, transition to green economy, renewable energy, among others.
At a parallel ministerial session themed “Aligning with the Green Revolution 4.0: The Journey of Transforming the Food System for a Sustainable Era”, Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture Mr. Girma Amente has expounded on his country’s strides in the agriculture sector and its commitment on green economy.
Girma emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to building a climate-resilient green economy. He mentioned that Ethiopia has developed and implemented a comprehensive food system and nutrition roadmap.
According to him, the homegrown Green Legacy initiative, wheat production, and “YeLemat Trufat” (Bounty of the Basket) programs are laying the foundation for ensuring sustainable food systems and climate-resilient agriculture in the country.
On the sidelines of the 4th P4G Summit, Mr. Girma Amente also held bilateral discussions with his Vietnamese counterpart. Both ministers reached a consensus to forge cooperation in the agricultural sector, especially in rice development.
