Addis Ababa, April 7, 2025 (FMC) — A high-level Ethiopian delegation headed by the Chief Speaker of the FDRE House of Federation (HoF), Mr. Agegnehu Teshager, is participating in the 150th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), being held on 5-9 April in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Addressing the Assembly, Upper House Speaker Mr. Agegnehu stated that Ethiopia is determined to strengthen its partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
He also called for strong global synergy to realize the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The Ethiopian Upper House Speaker said that his country is implementing a national development plan in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063 to realize peace and prosperity not only at the national level but also at the international level.
He claimed that Ethiopia has been making significant progress in achieving global development goals and achieving rapid economic growth in recent years. Agegnehu also asserted that significant progress has been made in various sectors in Ethiopia.
Agegnehu also shared Ethiopia’s experiences in combating the impacts of climate change and ensuring food security by planting over 40 billion tree seedlings over the past six years under the Green Legacy Initiative.
