Addis Ababa, April 4, 2025 (FMC) — The staff of the Ethiopian Embassy in Abu Dhabi have reaffirmed their commitment to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) by purchasing bonds worth $26,000, reinforcing their support for the project’s completion.
Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Omar Hussain, noted that the bond purchase, made on April 2, 2025, reflects the embassy’s dedication to ensuring GERD, now in its 14th year, reaches full operational capacity.
He underscored ongoing efforts to complete Africa’s largest dam in the coming months and stressed the importance of continued contributions to accelerate its finalization.
According to the ambassador, a strategic plan has been implemented to mobilize Ethiopians living in and around Abu Dhabi, encouraging active participation in fundraising initiatives to support GERD.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Ethiopians across all seven emirates and called on them to remain engaged in national efforts to see the dam fully realized.
