Addis Ababa, April 4, 2025 (FMC) — The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) will begin its agenda-setting process in the Amhara region tomorrow, with the goal of fostering national consensus.
The Commission has called for active participation from local communities across 267 districts, where over 4,500 participants from various sectors will be consulted.
Commissioner Melaku Woldemariam confirmed that all preparations are in place for the initiative, which began on March 5 and will continue until April 12, 2025.
This inclusive process will engage 6,000 representatives, including community leaders and key social groups, to address issues of national importance, he added.
According to the commissioner, the initiative emphasizes building both national and regional consensus, ensuring the involvement of marginalized groups such as women, people with disabilities, and displaced individuals.
Commissioner Yonas Adey on his part stated that the process will shape national policies by incorporating a wide range of societal perspectives.
Both commissioners expressed confidence that the agenda-setting process in Amhara, following similar efforts in 10 regions and two city administrations, will contribute to a unified national agenda.
