Ethiopia, Italy ink MoU to enhance cooperation in education sector

Addis Ababa, January 28, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on issues of mutual concern.

The agreement was signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Education, Prof. Berhanu Nega, and Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.

During the signing ceremony, Prof. Berhanu said that the agreement will help effectively advance existing partnerships in education sector.

He also mentioned that potentials to further enhance cooperation between the two respective ministries.

Mr. Berhanu also briefed his Italian counterpart on ongoing strides to increase autonomous universities autonomous in his country and issues that require cooperation in the education sector.

Italy’s Anna Maria, for her part, emphasized that Ethiopia is a partner of Italy and stated that the two countries will continue working together in the education sector.

Reciprocating her Ethiopian counterpart’s views on the MoU, she said the agreement is intended to facilitate direct cooperation between the two countries’ higher education institutions.
