Addis Ababa, April 20, 2025 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, First Lady Zinash Tayachew, and Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie marked Easter by spending time with community members who were relocated from the Kazanchis area to the Gelan Gura site.
“We spent this Easter with members of our community who were relocated to Gelan Gura from Kazanchis, which is currently undergoing redevelopment as part of the corridor development initiative,” Prime Minister Abiy shared on his social media platforms following the visit.
Reflecting on the broader vision behind the initiative, the Prime Minister remarked, “We are transforming a once-neglected area [in Addis Ababa]—not for personal gain, but for the collective good, for the joy of our children, and for a better future. Our sole ambition is to build a country free from poverty.”
Addressing the relocated residents, he affirmed, “This is your new neighborhood, your new home. I encourage you to visit the place where you once lived. As promised, Kazanchis has been beautifully renewed. Our children now have hope—they can dream bigger and live better lives than we did.”
Emphasizing a message of national revival, Prime Minister Abiy concluded, “The resurrection of Ethiopia is near. We will witness it, and our children will inherit it.”
Note that Ethiopian Christians at home and abroad are celebrating the Easter holiday today with various ceremonies, reflecting on themes of hope, renewal, and unity.
