Preparation for 11th Tana High-Level Forum for Security in Africa underway in Bahir Dar

Addis Ababa, April 3, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, met officials of the Amhara National Regional State and discussed preparations to host the 11th Edition of Tana High-Level Forum in Africa, which will be held later in 2025.

The Minister, during his visit to Bahir Dar on Wednesday, underlined the importance of Tana High-Level Forum in deliberating on issues of continental importance and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s continued support to ensure the success of the forum.

The Minister further applauded the Regional Government for the success achieved in modernizing forum facilities as well as for the infrastructural developments in the city of Bahir Dar.

The President of Amhara National Regional State, Arega Kebede, underlined the significant importance the Regional Government attaches to successfully host this annual event.

Recalling that the Regional Government has successfully hosted several conferences over the last couple of years, the President stated that Bahir Dar’s ample facilities and friendly atmosphere continue to attract the convening of national and international meetings.

The 11th Edition of Tana High-Level Forum will be held under the theme “Africa in an Evolving Global Order” and will bring together eminent personalities, including decision-makers, intellectuals, and stakeholders from the continent and beyond.

For over a decade, Tana Forum has played a crucial role in bringing about sustainable peace and contributing to the implementation of the African Union Tripoli Declaration of August 2009 that promotes “African-led Solutions”.
