Addis Ababa, March 2, 2025 (FMC) – President Taye Atskeselassie, alongside outgoing African Union Commission Chairperson Musa Faki Mahmmat, laid wreaths at the statues of Emperor Menelik II and the Adwa Victory Memorial today, inaugurating the 129th Adwa Victory Day at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum.
With the theme “Adwa, Victory of Black People,” the event celebrates Ethiopia’s significant victory, representing unity, sovereignty, and Black liberation.
Attendees included Chief of General Staff Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, Speakers Tagesse Chafo and Agegnehu Teshager, President of the Patriots Association Lij Daniel Jote, Defense Minister Aisha Mohammed, and Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael, alongside veteran patriots, residents, officials, members of the ENDF, and diplomats.
The wreath-laying ceremony initiated a day filled with various activities, with speeches anticipated later. Commemorative events are also being held nationwide and abroad by embassies, consulates, defense forces, and police.
