Public rallies across several regions highlight commitment to national reforms

Addis Ababa, April 2, 2025 (FMC) – Public rallies were held across regional states this morning as thousands of residents marched on the streets to demonstrate their support for Ethiopia’s ongoing national reforms, which began seven years ago.

It noteworthy that the reforms were initiated following Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s rise to power on April 2, 2018.

To mark the seventh anniversary of ongoing nationwide reforms, rallies were organized in cities and towns across Oromia, Southwest Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, and Benishangul-Gumuz regions.

The demonstrations were held under the major theme “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow for Ethiopia’s Greatness!”

Participants included religious leaders, elders, youth, and various community members, who carried banners voicing their support for the government’s reform agenda, as well as peace and security efforts.

Participants of the rallies reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the economic, social, and political progress achieved since the reforms began.

Among the messages displayed at the rallies were: “Building a Harmonious National Identity for Ethiopia’s Bright Future,” “Ethiopian Values for Constructive Peace,” “March—The Month That Heralded the Next Era of Patriotism,” “We Started Together, We Will Reach Together,” and “Common National Goals as a Model for Africa.”

It was indicated that the nationwide rallies underscored public backing for Ethiopia’s ongoing reform process as the country moves forward with its transformation agenda.
