Addis Ababa, February 28, 2025 (FMC) – Stakeholders from various walks of life have been urged to join forces in harnessing the vast development potential of the Borena area in Ethiopia’s Oromia region.
This was disclosed during an event organized by CST Ethiopia. On the occasion, CST Ethiopia unveiled research findings on transforming Borena’s natural resources into sustainable development, in the presence of key stakeholders.
The researches highlight Borena’s rich natural resources, which offer significant opportunities for growth across multiple sectors.
During the event, CST Ethiopia Country Deputy Director, Mr. Tsegaye Chala, emphasized that the Borena area holds immense potential, particularly in livestock farming, investment, and manufacturing.
He noted that over $700 million is currently being invested in Borena’s livestock sector, underlining the area’s economic significance. However, he also stressed the urgent need for stakeholders to address climate change challenges that could hinder progress.
According to the researches, climate change is a pressing issue in the area, but solutions have been identified to mitigate its effects and promote sustainable development.
Subsequently, the official also appealed for stakeholders’ synergy to take proactive measures to implement these solutions and unlock Borena’s full potential.
