China vows to cement trade, investment ties with Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, February 14, 2025 (FMC) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gedion Timothewos conferred with the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs, Liu Yuxi at his office today.
On the occasion, Dr. Gedion noted the enduring and comprehensive “All-Weather Strategic Partnership” between Ethiopia and China. He added that China is a key partner in Ethiopia’s development endeavours.
The Minister also briefed the Special Representative on aspects of peace and security issues in the Horn of Africa as well as continental issues of shared interest.
The Special Representative on his part said the ties between the two countries are built on a strong foundation. The regular high-level exchanges between the officials of the two countries serve as a proof to the deepening ties between Ethiopia and China, he added.
He further expressed his country’s commitment to ensure that Ethiopia benefits from the resolutions adopted at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Leaders’ Summit. The Special Representative underlined that China will continue to support Ethiopia by expanding trade and investment as well as contributing to the development of industrial parks.
It is to be recalled that Ethiopia and China are currently celebrating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
