Company launches Ethiopia’s first digital meter taxi personal accident insurance cover

Addis Ababa, March 4, 2025 (FMC) – Lion Insurance Company S.C. has unveiled Ethiopia’s first Trip-based Personal Accident Insurance Cover tailored for meter taxi service providers and their passengers. Built on its core values of Innovation, Yielding Partnership, and Protection, Lion Insurance collaborated with Little App Ethiopia to create this groundbreaking insurance product.

The newly launched policy redefines access to personal accident insurance in the taxi sector, combining it with Little Ride’s transport services. It offers financial compensation for death, disability, medical treatment, and ambulance services resulting from accidental injuries. With a simple click on the mobile app at the start of a journey, users can secure coverage of up to Birr 1,000,600 (One Million Birr) per trip, enhancing convenience and affordability for both drivers and passengers.

Lion Insurance aims to increase financial inclusion while fostering market competition through innovative customer segmentation and product differentiation. The launch event featured live demonstrations and insights from the development team, showcasing the product’s unique features.
