Director-General of FAO commends Ethiopia’s recent progress in agricultural domains
Addis Ababa, April 02, 2025 (FMC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Italy and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Agencies based in Rome, Demitu Habissa, held a discussion with Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director General of the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), at the headquarters of the organization.
Ethiopia’s successful achievement in the agricultural sectors and the upcoming International Bee Day Summit was among the main topics of the discussion.
During the discussion, Ambassador Demitu thanked the Director-General for the contributions on the second International Bee Day, and briefed him on the extensive preparatory work being carried out to successfully host the meeting.
Furthermore, she highlighted Ethiopia’s preparation to organize an exhibition to showcase its potential in honey production, as stated by the Ethiopian Embassy in Rome.
Director General Dr. Qu Dongyu, on his part, stated that Ethiopia’s selection to host this meeting was the right decision. He also praised Ethiopia’s agricultural achievements.
It was indicated that Slovenia hosted the first International Bee Day, and the second will be held in Jimma, Ethiopia, from May 20 to 22, 2025, with the presence of officials from many countries and international organizations.
