Djibouti’s FM Mahmoud Youssouf elected new AU Commission Chairperson

Addis Ababa, February 15, 2025 (FMC) – Djibouti’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mahmoud Youssouf has been elected the new African Union Commission Chairperson, taking over from Moussa Faki Mahamat, whose mandate ends after eight years.

Youssouf obtained 33 votes in the seventh round of voting.
