EIC hosts high-level public-private dialogue on investment protection and legal predictability
Addis Ababa, April 11, 2025 (FMC) – The Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) hosted a high-level Public-Private Dialogue today focused on “Investment Protection and Predictability of Laws,” as part of its flagship Invest in Ethiopia 2025 program.
The event brought together senior government officials, development partners, private sector representatives, chambers, and members of the diplomatic community.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Zeleke Temesgen, Chief Commissioner of the EIC, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of fostering a transparent and predictable legal environment for investors. “This dialogue is an opportunity to engage in open and honest conversations that will help build trust and identify workable solutions,” he said.
These dialogue marks the second in a series of preparatory engagements leading up to the Invest Ethiopia Forum scheduled for May 12-13. The first session, held earlier this week, addressed Customs and Taxation issues and resulted in concrete government commitments.
Today’s focus on legal predictability brought to the table government actors not typically involved in investment discussions, including representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, and the Federal Police Commission. Their participation underscores the government’s commitment to a holistic and coordinated response to investor concerns.
The EIC reaffirmed its dedication to follow through on the issues raised, highlighting ongoing bilateral engagements with key institutions such as the Immigration and Citizenship Services, Customs Commission, and regional administrations.
“This session marks a turning point in strengthening public-private collaboration for a more secure and predictable investment environment,” Zeleke concluded.
