Ethiopia and Germany reflect on 120 years of bilateral relations
Addis Ababa, April 11, 2025 (FMC) – State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, met today with a German delegation led by Niels Annen, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The two sides exchanged views on bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues, emphasizing the need to strengthen cooperation on trade and investment, peace and security.
On the occasion, Ambassador Hadera highlighted the long-standing bilateral ties between the two countries and acknowledged Germany’s significant support in development assistance. He stressed the importance of enhancing economic collaboration, and called for strengthening partnerships in the fields of education and training.
The State Minister also briefed the delegation on current national and regional issues.
Niels Annen, on his part, noted the commitment shown by the international community, including Germany, to support the peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Tigray region.
He further underscored Germany’s continued commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The delegation also discussed preparations for the upcoming EU-AU summit scheduled for May, expressing hope that the event would create new momentum for cooperation between European and African Union member states in light of current global dynamics.
