Ethiopia, IAEA discuss ways to develop nuclear engineering program in higher educational institutions
Addis Ababa, January 31, 2025 (FMC) – PR of Ethiopia to the UN Offices and International Organizations at Geneva and Vienna, Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew discussed Ethiopia’s efforts to harness nuclear technology for sustainable development with senior officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Discussions with Ms. Dongxin Feng, Director of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and agriculture on the use of nuclear Science and for development, specifically on enhancing food security, and advancing research in plant breeding, disease control, and soil management.
Ambassador Tsegab also held discussions with Dr. Mickel Edwerd, Section Head of the Division of Africa, Department of Technical Cooperation in the IAEA emphasized on implementation of the Agency’s flagship initiatives including the Atoms For food and Rays of Hope in addition to developing a Nuclear Engineering Program in Ethiopian higher educational institutions.
