Ethiopia, India emphasize the need to strengthen cooperation in defense sector

Addis Ababa, February 6, 2025 (FMC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and India have emphasized the importance of strengthening their longstanding relations through enhanced cooperation in the field of defense.

Deepening the two countries’ relations through various domains was discussed during a meeting between Ambassador of Ethiopia to India, Fisseha Shawel, and Mr. Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

On the occasion, Ambasador Fisseha and Mr. Dammu Ravi discussed enhancing bilateral ties and strengthening India-Africa relations in light of the upcoming India-Africa Forum Summit.

Ambassador Fesseha also held talks with Mr. Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of India. They both agreed on the importance of strengthening the defense cooperation between Ethiopia and India.

The Ambassador has reassured both officials of his country’s desire to work closely with India to foster the two countries’ bilateral ties.
