Ethiopia sends condolences to Türkiye over the ski resort hotel fire incident
Addis Ababa, January 21, 2025 (FMC) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has expressed its sadness over the loss of lives and injuries caused by a fire that broke out in a hotel in the Bolu province of Türkiye.
In a statement issued this evening, the Ethiopian foreign ministry expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in this tragic fire.
The Ministry also extended its solidarity with the Government and People of Türkiye at this difficult period.
According to several reports, dozens of people were killed after a fire ripped through a ski resort hotel in northwestern Türkiye on Tuesday, forcing desperate holidaymakers to leap from windows to escape from the flames and smoke.
At least 66 people were killed and 51 injured following the early morning blaze at a hotel in the Kartalkaya resort in Bolu province, according to Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Many children are believed to be among the victims.
