Ethiopia Showcased Rich Tourism Potential at ITB Berlin 2025
Addis Ababa, March 4, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia showcased its rich tourism potential at ITB Berlin 2025, one of the world’s largest tourism expos, with a delegation led by State Minister of Tourism, Mr. Sileshi Girma.
Representing the Ministry of Tourism, Ethiopian Airlines, tour operators, and key hospitality players, the delegation promoted Ethiopia’s diverse attractions under the ‘Land of Origins’ brand.
A key highlight was the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, which presented the country’s recent tourism infrastructure advancements under the “Gebeta Lehager” initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. These developments have significantly enhanced Ethiopia’s appeal as a global travel destination.
On March 6, a panel discussion will explore the role of museums in tourism promotion and the historical pillars of Ethiopia’s cultural legacy.
The event, co-organized by the Ethiopian Tour Operators Association, the Ethiopian Embassy in Berlin, and the German-based Society for the Promotion of Museums in Ethiopia (SPME), aims to foster dialogue on cultural tourism development.
Recognizing ITB Berlin as a premier global tourism platform, the Ethiopian Embassy in Berlin has been actively working with stakeholders—including the Ministry of Tourism, Ethiopian Airlines, and Ethiopian tour operators—to strengthen Ethiopia’s visibility in the German market.
Ethiopian Airlines’ daily flights to Frankfurt have played a key role in connecting Ethiopia with Germany, making it a preferred carrier for German travelers. However, untapped opportunities remain to fully unlock Ethiopia’s tourism potential in the German market.
