Ethiopia, Singapore reiterate commitment to enhance cooperation in multilateral forums
Addis Ababa, February 17, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, met today with A. Sivarajah, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Ethiopia, at his office.
Ambassador Mesganu expressed Ethiopia’s strong desire to deepen bilateral political and economic ties with Singapore, particularly on areas, including trade, investment and technology transfer.
The State Minister also emphasized Addis Ababa’s significance as a hub for diplomatic missions and international organizations, highlighting the opportunities for Singapore in establishing a diplomatic mission in Ethiopia to broaden its diplomatic engagement with other countries beyond enhancing bilateral relations.
Ambassador Sivarajah, on his part, commended Ethiopia’s role in hosting diplomatic activities in Addis Ababa and noted that the recent visit of Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, to Singapore, demonstrated the East African nation’s commitment to enhance partnership and sparked discussions in Singapore about increased engagement with Africa.
The discussions covered the importance of exchange of official visits, bilateral consultations, expanding transportation cooperation, and sharing expertise in green city development.
According to the Ethiopian foreign ministry, both sides also reiterated their commitment to enhance cooperation in multilateral forums.
