Ethiopia to continue strengthening ties with Rwanda for regional peace, dev’t

Addis Ababa, January 30, 2025 (FMC) – The Ethiopian government and the ruling Prosperity Party will continue strengthening their cooperation with Rwanda for regional peace and development, said Adem Farah, Head of the Democracy System Building Coordination Center with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of the ruling Prosperity Party.

The ruling party disclosed his government’s commitment during his meeting with the Secretary General of Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) Party, Wellars Gasamagera. The latter arrived in Addis Ababa last night to attend Prosperity Party’s second congress.

On the occasion, Mr. Adem said that the Prosperity Party is working with a focus on peace and economic development, and has demonstrated the promises made to the people at the first congress.

He said that Ethiopia is experiencing rapid economic growth in wheat, vegetables, fruits, rice and other products in line with the direction set by the ruling party at its first congress to increase agricultural production and productivity.

Mr. Adem pointed out that the corridor development work initiated in Addis Ababa at the initiative of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is currently being implemented in more than 50 cities and towns across the country. He also brought to attention the strides being made in implementing the rural corridor development across rural areas of Ethiopia.

He also noted that his government is paying special attention to the agriculture, tourism, industry, mining and digital sectors and is responding to the development demands of the citizens.

Adem said that his party is also diligently working on peace and prosperity as its primary focus.

Mentioning the party-to-party and government-to-government cooperation between Ethiopia and Rwanda, the PP vice president said the two countries will continue to strengthen their cooperation for bilateral, regional and continental peace and prosperity.

For his part, Wellars Gasamagera acknowledged that Ethiopia is undergoing a remarkable journey of change.

The Secretary General also praised the success of the Prosperity Party in carrying out activities that elevate Ethiopia and ensure the benefit of its people.

Subsequently, the two officials also reaffirmed commitment to continue strengthening their party-to-party and government-to-government cooperation through various domains.
