Ethiopia selected to host the 5th P4G Summit in 2027

Addis Ababa, April 17, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia has assumed the responsibility of hosting the 5th edition of the biennial Partnership for Green Growth, Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in 2027, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) confirmed today.

The Prime Minister confirmed this story after receiving the torch from Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam at the closing of the 2025 P4G Summit on 17th April in Hanoi.

“The Hanoi Summit has shown that even small, well-integrated P4G projects can drive meaningful impact and hold strong potential for scaling,” Abiy noted on his social media page.

He emphasized, “Ethiopia is deeply honoured to receive the torch and assume the responsibility of hosting the fifth P4G Summit in 2027.”

The Prime Minister asserted that his government embraces this opportunity with determination and an unwavering commitment to build on the inspiring legacy of the previous host countries such as Viet Nam, Colombia, Denmark, and the Republic of Korea.

“Guided by P4G’s core principles of partnership, innovation, inclusivity, and action, Ethiopia’s 2027 Summit will spotlight green industrialization, climate-resilient agriculture, and the empowerment of youth and women as essential agents of change in the green transition, Premier Abiy underscored.

Note that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his entourage travel to Hanoi on 14th April for official working visit at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Southeast Asian country Phạm Minh Chính. Over the past four days, PM Abiy and his delegation engaged in diplomatic discussions with leaders of Vietnam, toured the capital Hanoi, signed a couple of Memoranda of Understanding to forge cooperation in trade and education, and participated in the 4th P4G Summit.

Following his discussion with his Vietnamese counterpart Phạm Minh Chính on 15th April, PM Abiy Ahmed confirmed that the leader of the Southeast Asian nation will visit Ethiopia soon, stating, “I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Ethiopia in the near future, an occasion that will further solidify our joint vision for deepened bilateral relations in today’s global context.”
