Ethiopia’s all-weather road coverage expanded from 126,000km to 170,000km in 6 years
Addis Ababa, January 30, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s all-weather road coverage has expanded from 126,000 kilometers to 170,000 kilometers in just six years, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Among these, federally administered new asphalt roads alone total 26,722km, the PM Office said this morning in a social media post. It is learned that the federal government initiated these projects within the past six years and are currently at various stages of completion.
A notable example is the 63 km Jimma-Agaro-Beshaha road project, which enhances access to historical sites such as Abajifar Palace, connects major townships, and features wide road cross-sections. In Jimma and Agaro alone, over 20 km of urban roads include dedicated bicycle lanes, improving mobility and accessibility, as per the PM Office.
