Ethiopia’s trainee diplomats informed on growing importance attracting investment as core value of national interest

Addis Ababa, April 4, 2025 (FMC) — The Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) gave an awareness training session for young diplomats currently undergoing training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, in collaboration with the ministry and Institute of Foreign Affairs.

During the session, Zemen Junedin, the Chief Investment Promotion and Marketing Officer of the corporation, presented key insights into Ethiopia’s untapped investment potential, with a specific focus on Special Economic Zones.

He discussed the outcomes of the country’s homegrown economic reforms and highlighted Ethiopia’s strategic location near the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean as an advantage for investment.

Zemen encouraged the trainees to actively promote Ethiopia as a prime destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

The session is part of IPDC’s broader initiative to strengthen the relationship between investment and diplomacy, ensuring that Ethiopia’s investment opportunities are effectively communicated and maximized for the country’s sustainable development.
