Ethiopia’s Transport and Logistics Minister joins UN Road Safety Board
Addis Ababa, March 12, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime has been appointed as a board member of the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF).
In a letter to the minister, the UNRSF lauded Ethiopia’s national strategy and inclusion of road safety education in schools.
The letter acknowledged the country’s success stories in building bicycle and pedestrian paths through the Corridor Development Project and improving road networks to strengthen transport infrastructure.
The African Economic Commission recognized Ethiopia’s commitment, paving the way for Alemu’s appointment to the UNRSF Board of Trustees.
Alemu’s new role is anticipated to allow Ethiopia to share its expertise globally and adopt top road safety practices.
Established in April 2018, the UNRSF works worldwide to fund and support impactful projects aimed at enhancing road safety, it was learned.
