Harari Region’s corridor dev’t initiative boosts tourism and job Creation, says PM Office

Addis Ababa, February 7, 2025 (FMC) – The first phase of the Harar corridors development focused on enhancing the Harar Jugol World Heritage area, making it more accessible and convenient for both residents and visitors, the Office of the Prime Minister stated.

In the second phase, corridor development is expanding to all areas of Harar City, adapting to current needs and circumstances, the Office noted.

“This initiative has not only created numerous job opportunities for youth and women but has also contributed to an increase in tourism. Additionally, local manufacturing industries have played a role in reducing imports by producing electric poles and engaging in other essential activities. The success of corridor development in Harar City is largely driven by strong community involvement, ensuring its continued progress and impact.”
