IGAD chief convenes peace, security coordination group meeting
Addis Ababa, March 4, 2025 (FMC) – The Executive Secretary of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, convened a Peace and Security Coordination Group meeting with IGAD Peace and Security Program Directors, Special Envoys, and key partners to align strategic priorities for 2025 and 2026.
The meeting was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today, according to IGAD Secretariat.
“Peace is not just the absence of conflict; it is the foundation of resilience, progress, and shared prosperity. This morning, I convened a Peace and Security Coordination Group meeting with IGAD Peace and Security Program Directors, Special Envoys, and partners to align our strategic priorities for 2025 and 2026—not just to respond to challenges, but to shape lasting solutions,” Executive Secretary Workneh said in a social media post after the meeting.
“Building on the strides made, IGAD remains committed to diplomacy, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding for lasting regional stability,” he asserted.
