IMF Managing Director visits Women’s Rehabilitation & Skill Dev’t Center, School for Visually Impaired

Addis Ababa, February 8, 2025 (FMC) – The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, who arrived in Addis Ababa today, visited ‘Lenegewa’ Women’s Rehabilitation and Skill Development Center.

The Center, located in Akaki Kaliti Sub City on a 10-hectare plot, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to offer a wide range of services aimed at rehabilitating the livelihoods and transforming the skills of vulnerable women across the city and the country.

It can accommodate up to 10,000 women at a time and includes skill development hubs, psychological counseling and mental health services, training centers, and recreational spaces.

Similarly, the Managing Director witnessed, a special state-of-the-art boarding school built for visually impaired persons in the capital Addis Ababa.

Georgieva, who is embarking on a two-day official visit to Ethiopia, engaged in high-level discussions with Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and other senior government officials earlier.

She is also expected to meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to discuss Ethiopia’s economic outlook, policy priorities, and ongoing reforms.

“I am Delighted to be in Ethiopia for my first visit as IMF Managing Director. And grateful for the warm welcome, excited to discuss boosting investments, jobs, and growth with our partners,” Georgieva said in a social media post.
