Inaugural meeting of national SDGs steering committee held

Addis Ababa, March 6, 2025 (FMC) — The inaugural meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) National Steering Committee held in Addis Ababa today, the Ethiopian development and planning ministry disclosed.

The inaugural gathering was co-chaired by Ms. Fitsum Assefa, Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Development of Ethiopia, and Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia.

The high-level gathering brought together key ministers and development partners, marking a crucial step toward accelerating Ethiopia’s implementation of the SDGs.

After concluding the meeting, Ms. Fitsum said in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the inaugural meeting will be pivotal to fast-track Ethiopia’s journey towards achieving the SDGs.
