Jemal Yimer leads Ethiopia’s star-studded field in Seoul Marathon

Addis Ababa, March 12, 2025 (FMC) – Long distance runner Jemal Yimer leads Ethiopia’s star studded field in Seoul marathon slated for this weekend — Sunday, March 16, 2025.

His compatriots Haftu Tekelu (2:04:42), Abraha Adihana (2:06:08), Adane Kebede (2:06:54), and Kibrom Desta (2:07:05) complete the Ethiopian line-up for the Seoul International Marathon, also known as The Dong-A Ilbo Seoul Marathon.

The Seoul city government made the announcement on Tuesday, with this year’s event featuring a record-high 40-thousand participants from 66 countries participating in the Elite and Masters categories.

In the Elite category, 170 athletes from seven countries will participate, including Bernard Kiprop Koech of Kenya, who won the Hamburg Marathon in 2023 and 2024 and Jemal Yimer, who won the 2024 Seoul Marathon.
