Jigjiga city revitalizing itself as regional hub with 30km corridor dev’t works

Addis Ababa, February 7, 2025 (FMC) – As part of its development efforts, Somali region is undertaking a 30 km corridor development project in its regional capital, Jigjiga city, the Office of the Prime Minister-Ethiopia disclosed today.

The PM Office his started a visual series on 6th February, showcasing the progress of rural and urban corridor development across regions in Ethiopia.

In the first two visual series, the PM Office highlighted corridor development works in Addis Ababa and Southwest Ethiopia People’s regional state.

In its third series, the PM Office highlighted ongoing corridor development works in the Somali regional state.

It was indicated that the regional capital’s corridor development work covers 30 kilometers, with the first phase covering 10 km.

It was mentioned that this initiative to revitalize a city with significant potential as a regional hub has already created up to 12,500 jobs.
