Kenenisa Bekele announces he will compete in the 2025 London Marathon

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2025 (FMC) — Veteran athlete Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia has announced that he will compete in the 2025 London Marathon.

It was mentioned that this would be the 42-year-old’s last outing in the London Marathon event.

Confirming his return to the London Marathon on social media, Kenenisa thanked his fans and family for their support throughout his running career.

The legendary distance runner, who has been in the athletics field for 22 years, is the third fastest marathon time holder and became the first athlete to run a marathon at the age of 40+ by participating in the 2024 London Marathon.

Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge, Kenenisa’s 22-year rival, will also participate in the race, according to the London Marathon organizers.
