Manufacturing Industry and Investments in Amhara See Significant Growth – DPM

Addis Ababa, March 5, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Truneh, has highlighted significant growth in the manufacturing industry and investments in the Amhara Region.

The Deputy Prime Minister made the remarks while touring corridor development projects and other key initiatives in Bahir Dar, the regional capital.

“During our visit, we observed the Amhara Metal Industry and Machine Technology Development Enterprise, a crucial player in the region’s industrial expansion,” Temesgen stated on his social media channels.

He explained that the enterprise specializes in steel smelting, machinery production, corridor smart poles, and the assembly of transformers and farm equipment. Its contributions, he noted, reduce reliance on imports, conserve foreign currency, and prevent delays in essential projects caused by supply shortages.

Temesgen emphasized the importance of continuing and strengthening Ethiopia’s national initiative to prioritize locally produced substitute goods.

“Manufacturers must stay committed to this effort,” he added, “to help achieve our national goals by focusing on import substitution and enhancing domestic production capacity.”
